So along with “The Uncanny” art book and three large prints, for the opening night of the show, my sister and I dressed up as beings similar to the surreal women creatures that would inhabit my work. In line with completing the whole experience of the work; the incubation as strokes on a page in my sketchbook, to the life size prints bringing it to a human level, and finally for them to step off the page or wall through our costumes, forcing the audience to confront the female beings in their reality.
I personally built every inch of both costumes and enjoyed how they turned out despite only given a couple weeks to get them done. What I enjoyed more was the interaction with the audience that made this show particularly fun.
And made all the blood, sweat, and tears, worth it.
Thank you again for the support.
For those who haven't seen it...it will be up at the Museum of FIT til July 6.
Here are some shots from the show.
Here are some photos of us interacting with the audience. There was no shortage of people who wanted to take photos with us. But who says we can't have a little fun....if not be a little silly.
